For supporters who want to be an even greater part of GFNY race weekend, becoming a GFNY Volunteer is the perfect way to get involved.
GFNY has a variety of volunteer roles, from packing goodie bags, to handing out race packets, to supporting the start line or finish line, or along the course at an aid station.
Volunteering at the GFNY World Championship is a fun experience, with camaraderie, goodwill and excitement. Volunteers play a key role in creating an unforgettable experience for athletes, spectators, journalists and special guests from all over the world. The event draws on the help of over 500 volunteers over four days, May 12-15, 2022, in New York City, Bergen County in NJ, Rockland County in NY and Bear Mountain State Park in NY. Volunteers who offer their time, energy, support and enthusiasm are a vital part of GFNY.
Volunteer needs span the days before the race and race day itself; if you have a day with some time available, there is a volunteer shift that can be the right fit for you!
GFNY World Championship: On May 15, 2022, five thousand cyclists from across the USA and 90+ countries will ride on a challenging 100-mile cycling marathon from New York City to Bear Mountain and back. On May 13-14, 2022 the GFNY expo takes place in Fort Lee, NJ. More information about the event can be found at gfny.com.
GFNY Athletes: The cyclists competing in the event are taking on a big challenge. 50% of participants are coming from abroad and another 20% from outside the tri-state area, and may be visiting the US or New York for the first time. All athletes are dedicated athletes who train hard to be able to complete a challenging event like GFNY. Help us welcome them to GFNY and get them all set to race.
GFNY Kids: On Saturday, May 14, Kids get to race too! Kids ages 3-12 will be taking on their own race in Fort Lee, NJ.
Everyone Can Help: You can volunteer in a broad range of roles, such as registration, setup, aid stations, clean up, motorcycle marshal and more. While there are many ways you can help, they all have one thing in common: you are part of the event. No matter if you’re young, old, love cycling or know nothing about it, if you’d like to help at the expo, an aid station or the finish line – we are looking forward to seeing you! Get involved in GFNY World Championship to support the athletes in their quest to the GFNY World Championship finish line.
Volunteer T-shirt: Every volunteer receives the official GFNY World Championship Volunteer T-shirt. The T-shirt identifies a person as an Official GFNY Volunteer. The T-shirt must be worn as the outer-most layer of your clothing - please pick the right T-shirt size!
